Luís Vieira was born in Oporto, Portugal in 1972, and started working with newspapers in 1997, when he was studying Communication Sciences at  Fernando Pessoa University, in Oporto. He began his career at the extinct regional newspaper Matosinhos Hoje, having collaborated with sports newspaper Jornal o Jogo the following year. Then he was invited by the sports newspaper Record, where he joined the company’s staff in January 2000. In the following 15 years he spent there, he worked as a photojournalist and sub-editor of photography at the Oporto delegation, photographed numerous sporting events, including World Championships and European Football Championships, Champions League Finals, African Nations Cup Final, UEFA Cup and European Super Cup, traveling to a total of 26 countries.
Between 2010 and 2015 he worked with Jornal Correio da Manhã, and simultaneously with City Files agency, Lusa agency, producing images to feed news content in national and international newspapers.
From 2016 he became a freelancer, and moved to Braga, keeping his link to the Cofina group (Record and Correio da Manhã), and started to produce images of ​​corporate portraiture, events and performing arts. Launches a cultural magazine (Badio Magazine) and expands its range of clients to Jornal de Negócios and the Associated Press Agency. 
In 2018 he covered more than 700 sports events as the official photographer for Braga European City of Sport, an event that later gave rise to the publication of a book and exhibition of photos alluding to these 12 months of photographic production.
With work published in Record, Jornal de Noticias, Correio da Manhã, Público, Expresso, Washington Times, NY Times, Marca, Mundo Deportivo, Spiegel, Gazzeta dello Sport, SportsNet, Belfast Telegraph, São Francisco Chronicle, Capital, News Tribune, ESPN, Estadão, ABC News, MSNBC, El País, China Daily, Olé, ABS-CBN, Evening Standard, and several images used in books and other publications, he is always available to overcome himself, learn new tools and develop projects that can contribute to the enhancement of photography as a storytelling tool.
